Cement is a fine powder that is the principal strength-giving and property-controlling component of concrete. As it is the main component in the construction of infrastructures for building and developing residential and public buildings, water and sewage systems, it is the most widely consumed commodity after water.

Due to its importance and properties, most countries manufacture their own cement locally, either in integrated plants or in grinding plants. It is forecasted that cement consumption will continue to rise over the years, resulting in greater volume of cement trade globally.

Clinker is the product of a chemical process of baking the raw materials in a kiln at extremely high temperatures. It is essential to cement production and is used in grinding plants during the production process.

Slag is a by-product left over after a desired metal has been separated from its raw ore (usually in iron or copper and crude steel production). While slag is generally used to remove waste in metal smelting, other uses of it include highway base and subbase, agricultural liming and soil conditioning, lightweight concrete block, roofing aggregate (built-up and shingle), cement manufacture and concrete floor fill.

Amongst the many different types of slag, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and copper slags are common types that we transport.
